Continuous Calibration, active marker and active rigid-body based skeleton tracking, AMTI Genlock sync support, and new system latency metrics for better data analysis.
Continuous Calibration
Designed to remove the need for daily wand-waving, continuous calibration uses the tracking data from the system’s regular use to self-heal the calibration over time. The system should only require calibration upon first installation, and will then self-calibrate indefinitely. When the system detects small movements due to temperature changes or camera mount creep, it maintains the quality of a “fresh” calibration with world leading 3D accuracy at all times.
OptiTrack Active VR
Specifically designed for VR applications, OptiTrack Active VR uses discreet, flush mount LEDs to track HMDs, weapons, set pieces and now, full-body tracking. For all but small research applications which may still wish to use passive markers, Active VR removes the requirement for spatially unique passive marker patterns for every item being tracked. Identical objects are identified and tracked individually.
Track over 100 objects with Active.
Using OptiTrack Active, systems can track over 100 individual objects, such as HMDs, weapons, set pieces and OptiTrack Active pucks, all with industry low latency (typically less than 10 ms). NatNet 3.0 delivers the real-time stream with timestamp information for integration with other devices such as an IMU.
System Latency Improvements
Tracking performance improvements in Motive 2.0 include a reduction in system latency as well as more detailed real-time reporting of latency, including point cloud latency, solver latency, total software latency and overall system latency.
HMD Calibration Tool
The new HMD Calibration tool makes Oculus HMD setup for all unique marker configurations much faster and easier. Motive utilizes the HMD tracking data from both the OptiTrack system and the Oculus system using a starting model to automatically calculate and place the pivot point at a between eye center for VR applications. This step is is not required when using the OptiTrack Active VR clip.
Gizmo Tool Improvements & Rigid Body Refinement
The move/rotate/scale tool has been expanded to work with rigid bodies and markers, making customizing rigid body pivot points much easier. Snap-to locations are now determined by either rigid body markers or throw away markers, and rigid body definitions can be recalculated to better fit its associated markers. These changes, as well as similar changes to skeletal segments can now be made in Live mode as well. This is particularly helpful when using rigid bodies for measurement or to define a new rigid body.
AMTI Genlock Support
Added support for reference clock synchronization with AMTI force plates. This allows AMTI force plates to reliably maintain their synchronization with Motive over long recordings with no frame drift.
Enhanced Graphing Capabilities
New graphing functionality allows users to visualize and monitor multiple data channels including 3D positions of reconstructed markers, 6 Degrees of Freedom (6 DoF) data of trackable assets, and signals from integrated external devices (e.g. force plates or NI-DAQ). In addition to the basic layouts (channel, combined, gapped), custom layouts can also be created for monitoring specific data channels only. Up to 9 graphs can be plotted in each layout and up to two panes can be opened simultaneously.
New User Interfaces
Blending a more functional design and intuitive controls, the design of the panes has been upgraded for better overall aesthetics and usability. This redesign covers most of the commonly used panes within the software. Each window can be arranged, moved and combined to create new custom layouts.
